2020 Ford Escape Model Review - Dalton, GA

Whether you’ve been a long-time Ford buyer or are in the market for something different than you’ve had in the past, the 2020 Ford Escape has been completely redesigned and tailored for the modern driver on the go. Ford knew that Americans spend on average 17,600 minutes driving every year. With that much time in the car, it’s time a car was designed to fit your needs with smart conveniences that make the commute a lot more enjoyable.

Let’s check out the fresh features for this 2020 model and see how it’s breaking new barriers.

Engine and Exterior

We’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about the engine first. With the 2020 Escape, Ford is once again forward thinking, but this time, it’s in a big way. The 2020 redesign tackled the engine first, making only one standard engine at 1.5L turbo with 180 hp. Above the standard model, in the SE sport and titanium, Ford engineered a 2.5L Atkinson hybrid powertrain. Want the turbo engine for the titanium? They also created a 2L turbo that puts out an incredible 250 hp. Lastly, the fourth option is a plugin option for the powertrain that drives 30 fully electric miles on a single charge.

When it comes to the body of the 2020 Escape, Edmunds explains it like going fromm a hiking boot to a running shoe. Even more aerodynamic than the previous model and up to 200 lbs. lighter, the new Ford Escape is ready for adventure.

Interior and Tech Features

Take the previous Ford Escape model and make it even roomier and lighter with sharper tech features. In the Titanium model, the instrument panel is made up of a 12.3” screen where you’ll find your speed, mileage, and fuel gauge. Never take your eyes off the road with the heads-up display, a simple piece of tech right above the steering that shows navigation. The SE model comes standard with the 8-inch forward-set touch screen SYNC 3 infotainment system. Unlike many models with the screen deep set where usability is difficult while driving, the 2020 Escape offers a tablet-like screen that’s easily viewable and accessible.

Turn knobs for the temperature control, tuning, and volume pare down the number of touches you make when changing the settings. With the 8-gear transmission in several of the models, the shift stick is replaced by a subtle and sleek rotary shifter. This shifter looks just slightly larger than some of the other knobs in the car and is paired with several different mode buttons (eco, normal, sport, slippery, sand, and snow). Just because the Escape is a bit more trim on the exterior, doesn’t mean that it sacrifices cargo space. New in the 2020 model is the addition of sliding rear seats. When slid all the way to the first position, the cargo space gains an additional four cu. ft. When slid to the last position, riders will enjoy class-leading leg room or helpful space for bulky car seats. Plus, with the stargazing panoramic sunroof/moonroof combo, the interior feels even roomier.
